My name is Jan Davies and I have worked for Brownhills Community Association for 22 years. We have 38 paid members of staff in this centre and 20 volunteers who are with us on a regular basis. We offer lots of activities that attract those interested in the arts world, such as film shows and theatre productions. There is lots provided to engage with the elderly, the young and the ‘in-betweeners’.
As part of my remit I also am heavily involved in the continuation of the book exchange at Pelsall Village Centre following the closure of the library. We also provide services for residents such as: bereavement groups; friendship groups; a gym facility for people with mobility problems; and moms and toddlers groups. The list is extensive.
I am the vice chair of the Network Forum and I represent them on the Walsall-For-All board, reporting on the integration and cohesion strategy, and recently attended an away-day aimed at helping board members to get to know one another and strengthen their relationship. An inspirational day and one I will not forget.
