Black History Month Community Spotlight - Tosin

Tosin is a Walsall resident working as a Tax Apprentice and supplied his community profile via Twitter.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

I understand the importance of BHM but I feel greater focus must be placed on other areas of Black history such as inventors and modern-day figures rather than just slavery and segregation.

Who inspires you?

I’d say Karl Lokko as he came from a similar background and became successful via the corporate route, allowing him to rub shoulders with the likes of Richard Branson.

What are your hopes and aspirations for the future?

I’m currently a tax apprentice at a big 4 accounting firm. At the moment my aspirations are to become chartered to hopefully lead teams involved in financial technology.

What do you think would make Walsall a better place?

Increased investment into youth through sports, schools and external extra-curricular activities would stimulate more smart minds to come up with solutions for their local area.
